Learn about the Ontario Alliance of Climbers and why access matters!

What does the OAC do?

  • We advocate for climbing access across the province.
  • We engage with landowners and land managers to maintain and expand climbing areas.
  • We organize amenity stations (such as porta-potties) and look for ways to improve our crags.
  • We educate climbers and land managers on environmental and liability concerns.
  • We advise climbers on the importance of responsible outdoor recreation.
  • We organize grass roots access initiatives.

Why support the OAC?

1

Twenty Years of Access

The OAC has a long history of working with land managers and private land owners to retain and expand access to climbing areas
2

A Volunteer Led Organization

The OAC is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, and while climbing is personal, access remains a team sport. Volunteers are always needed for ongoing projects.
3

Stronger Together

The OAC's Climb in Parks campaign (climbinparks.ca) showed that when climbers unite, we can create positive change. The more members, the louder the voice.
4

Access Isn't Free

We rely on membership fees, donations and sponsorships to provide amenities like porta-potties, pay for technology like our permit system, and cover insurance for our Board.
5

Provincial Representation

We are ambassadors of Ontario outdoor climbing in discussions with provincial and federal agencies such as Ontario Parks.
6

Beaver Valley Climbing Festival

We organize an annual climbing festival, bringing the province together to celebrate Ontario climbing and all that it has to offer.
