The OAC Rattlesnake Spring Fling is back!

Sunday June 8th we'll be doing some crag care at both Rattlesnake Point and Mount Nemo 🌳🚮

The Spring Fling is a day spent contributing to crag maintenance and strengthening our relationship with @conservationhalton . We'll spend the morning picking up trash, celebrate our hard work with lunch, and then spend the afternoon climbing. Come join us for this day of giving back to the climbing community 🥰

Register now to make sure we have enough food to go around, and put your name on the list for park entry! Link in bio 🔗

With heavy hearts, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the climber who passed while climbing at Mount Nemo yesterday.

When tragedy occurs, it's easy to want to assign blame and/or criticize actions that took place. To try to prevent speculation, what we know of the events that took place are that an experienced climber was toproping, wearing a helmet, and practicing safe climbing when a large chunk of rock fell, severing the rope. There is no evidence of gear failure or human error.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the nearby climbers who were quick to take action and assist rescue attempts. Having a community that bands together for strangers in time of need is all we can hope for.

We would also like to thank Conservation Halton and the first responders who had procedures in place to help locate climbers at the base of the cliff.

We have been in touch with Conservation Halton. Mount Nemo is again closed today. We will update the community if there are any updates.

Ontario Parks has reached out to let us know they've completed their work to clean up Devil's Glen after the recent storm! All trails have been cleared of debris, with the exception of one large cedar tree at the base of the cliff (which has an obvious workaround for visitors).

Safe climbing out there, we'll see you on the wall!

If you’ve climbed at Devil’s Glen Provincial Park this spring you’ve likely noticed the impacts of late winter ice & wind storms on trees and trails.

Speaking with our partners at Ontario Parks, we shared the need for clearing of downed trees and offered community assistance if needed. Appreciative of the offer, over the coming weeks park staff plan to conduct trail clearing and do not require community assistance at this time.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to enjoy Devils Glen, and provide any needed space while park teams complete clean up operations.
